What inspired you to start participating in roller derby? Whip It and a lot of free time after college

Advice to freshmeat: Watch, as often as you can. If you can’t participate in practice, watch, try to memorize the movements of other skaters so you can replicate them. If you’re not rostered for a bout, watch your team, try to figure out what’s working for them and what isn’t, give feedback, and remember it for yourself. And watch high level play at home. The better your derby brain gets the faster your skills will improve. Trust.

Favorite moment: Probably our first big trip as a travel team to San Luis Obispo. It was a dream of ours and it took lots of planning behind the scenes. We won big that weekend, jumped like 40 spots in the rankings, and celebrated hard. I’ll never forget that experience.

Catch them in action
